About the Rappelling Location:

North Table Mountain in Golden, Colorado has a rich geological history dating back millions of years. The rock formations found on the mountain are primarily made of volcanic basalt which was formed from lava flows during the volcanic eruptions that occurred in the area during the Late Cenozoic Era. Over time, wind, rain and other natural forces have shaped the basalt into the unique mesa-like formation seen today. These cliffs provide us a grand stage to rappel from! The mountain is also home to numerous fossils and evidence of past aquatic life, indicating that the area was once covered by an ancient lake or sea. North Table Mountain continues to be a popular destination for geologists and hikers who are interested in exploring its rich geological history and diverse rock formations. “Had a great rappelling lesson with Dan on North Table Mtn! The hike up was full of breaks for us sea-level folks. Definitely take water. We were able to rappel the 30ft and 100ft cliffs twice, keep in mind you’ll have to hike back up to do it again, but it’s worth it!”

“Dan was awesome! He walked us through the safety protocol and took it real easy going up the approach since we are out-of-towners. The 100 foot cliff was epic. Highly recommend!!”

“Our family of 5, existing of 3 teenagers, 19, 19 and 17 and two parents rapelled with guide Dan and Justin. They were excellent and made the our all new experience even more exciting and enjoyable. The were extremely knowledgeable and very patient with us since we were all first timers. I would highly recommend them and take and adventure with them again.”

I am a novice to rappelling and decided to try it out while in Colorado and it was not a mistake. Fortunately, I had a semi private lesson with Dan since I went during the off season. He was informative and happy to help me learn the technique behind everything. Nothing about the lesson was stressful and I felt like I was in good hands. It is thanks to him it was such a positive experience and I fully intend on rebooking when I return to Denver.

So glad this came up when I searched for “Denver with teenager”! I had a very good time but my 15 year old son had the time of his life!

It was my first time rappelling, and guide Dan explained everything–it felt safe while also being adventurous. The views were gorgeous, too.

We stayed in Golden the rest of the day, with a great lunch and renting e-bikes. Definitely would have tried river tubing if we had brought our swimsuits, too. Great day all around! Definitely recommend!

My 13-year old daughter and I had a great time rappelling with Mark. He set up safety lines for walking to the edge and showed us how to set up our gear and did back up belay for double safety. I’m a bit scared of heights but felt very safe and had no problem going over the esge

What an amazing experience provided by Denver Climbing Company and our awesome guide Dan. Dan was patient and extremely knowledgeable which made our rappelling experience that much better. Visiting from Maryland we signed up to for the intro to rappelling to try while in Denver. My wife, who is not a fan of heights, was able to accomplish rappelling down a 100 foot cliff with the help from Dan. Thank you again to Denver Climbing Company and Dan for an amazing experience. I would highly recommend this company and rappelling to anyone looking for a little adventure while visiting Denver!!

  12. Patty (verified owner)

This experience was everything I had hoped for! Dan was amazing! Dan’s attention to safety gave me and my son the confidence to go to the 100 foot cliff after doing the 35 foot cliff only one time. At 57 I was looking for an experience that was exhilarating and challenging! This was both of these things. The hike up was very challenging but Dan knew exactly where to stop along the way to make sure we hydrated and rested. I highly recommend a good pair of hiking shoes as the path has a lot of loose rocks that can make it slippery. I would highly recommend this experience!

Our group had a blast, thanks to Dan and Mark. They made everything easy and fun. We practiced on a smaller cliff, then went rappelling on a 100 ft cliff! They talked us through everything and we learned a lot in addition to having fun. This was my 2nd time with the company, and I will go back again in the future. Very organized.

This was a birthday surprise for a 4 hr repelling adventure and I’m so glad they chose this company. Dan is one of the BEST guides that I’ve had in a very long time! I’m former military so I say that with trust and confidence in his abilities to explain things, keep you safe and make it fun. I highly recommend any of his services and know you’re going to have a great time. I’ll be back and thanks again Dan!

  15. Diane (verified owner)

It was my first time rappelling. My husband did it in the Navy back when. We’re both in our 50s and was able to hike and rappel down the mountain no problem. Dan was a great teacher and we loved it. Will definitely be back in time we’re in Denver.

I am 57 years old and in so-so shape. I wanted to take my 26 year old son rappelling for his birthday and Dan made this possible. Dan was awesome! He was patient, extremely knowledgeable, and fun!! Would definitely love to do this again. 👍👍😁

  17. Rene C (verified owner)

Dan is a great teacher who makes you feel like rappelling is totally possible – and it is! Super fun and exhilarating. The way he breaks it down and gets you comfortable makes it so easy. If you’re on the fence, just try it!

  18. 1Boston (verified owner)

Dan is fantastic teacher! The rappelling itself was incredibly fun and exhilirating. What made it especially worthwhile was that by the end of the day I felt like I could get into it more on my own. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. Can’t recommend highly enough for people who want to learn how to rappel!

It was so great with Dan the instructor. He made us feel super safe and was very good at outlining how to do the activity properly.

I took my 3 Grandchildren from So Cal ages 17,17,15. On the way home they couldn’t stop talking about their awesome experience rock climbing for the first time. The 15 year old was the one I thought would chicken out, but because of Dan (our Guide) he climbed almost to the top on his third climb. When asked what was going through his head he said “I trusted what Dan was telling me to do”. Our Guide, Dan, was exceptional with teaching, coaching and encouraging the kids. I highly recommend this experience with this Company. They took great care to provide “almost new , clean/sanitized” equipment. It was a highlight of my Grandchildren’s visit to Colorado.

My wife and myself went to Denver Climbing Company prior to a Canyoning vacation in Utah for rappelling basics. 10/10 would take another class from Denver Climbing Company. Dan was thoughtful, professional, and an incredibly effective educator.

  22. Jessica (verified owner)

Went Rappelling with Dan in the beginning of March 2020 and it was such a thrilling experience! Dan was an awesome guide! He reassured our safety, was extremely knowledgeable, and very patient as we talked through some nerves. A must do!

  23. Alexis (verified owner)

One of the BEST highlights of my Denver trip! Dan is an amazing & thoughtful guide- plans changed last minute as the mountains were snowy. Dan was efficient in providing options so I could still climb, went the extra mile to ensure I could still experience rappelling & taught me extra climbing skillsets!

With Dan’s decade of experiences, I felt super safe and well taken care throughout the whole trip! Got to climb routes that matches my proficiency!

I will definitely choose Dan to be my climbing guide again for more climbing adventures 😉

Absolutely fantastic. Will do again! Dan is an amazing teacher and guide. First and foremost I have to say that covid safety protocol are firmly in place. Our overall safety and fun were top priorities. I must share that I am 55 and afraid of heights but wanted to do this to celebrate life and create a great memory for my 34th wedding anniversary. While we hiked up the mountain, Dan was so chill that it kept me really calm. He gave us the history of the mountain, pointed out the natural trails all around us, and even gave us some great tips for other adventures/attractions in the area. He explained everything we were going to do before we did it. He made it seem so simple. And it was!! We climbed/rappelled off of the cliffs like we were Spiderman. The scenery is breathtaking. There are great opportunities for photo ops and we are still smiling at all the pictures we have. Honestly, I surprised myself. This adventure is 10 stars, two thumbs up, and several high fives. Just do it. You will be so happy you did. My husband absolutely loved this adventure and was ready to go again the minute we got back to the car.
